This weekend saw Armed Forces Day events through the country. After displaying at Plymouth yesterday and performing flypasts over events at Salisbury (twice), Trowbridge and Billingshurst, the Red Arrows finished a busy weekend by displaying at Folkestone before returning home to Scampton, via Biggin Hill.

The last time I watched flying at Folkestone was at the Jubilee Air Show in June 2012. Then, I photographed from the beach. This time, I observed from The Leas, Folkestone’s promenade, a hundred feet above sea level.

Orientation

The display line was over water, running approximately east-west. The Red Arrows displayed at 16:00 when the sun was to the right of the crowd, which faced south. Crowd centre was at Leas Cliff Hall.
