The cancellation of the Waddington and Scampton events have left this as the RAF’s only air show. Considering the turnout they managed the previous day for the Queen’s birthday flypast, I was disappointed to see such a thin RAF line-up at Cosford. Foreign armed services filled in the gaps, with a welcome visit from a P-3 Orion of the German Navy.

RAF Cosford, between Wolverhampton and Telford, is a pleasant venue, although the short runway required many participants, including the Red Arrows, to operate out of nearby RAF Shawbury.
